Why is this project happening?

What will the outcome be?

The Las Cruces Active Transportation Plan is building on the Plan4LasCruces and other ongoing planning efforts to improve conditions for walking and biking across the City for people of all ages and abilities.

When the Plan is approved by City Council, it will serve as a roadmap for the City to grow as a place where walking and biking can thrive. By enacting smart policy that incentivizes pedestrian-friendly design, closing pedestrian and bicycle network gaps and overcoming barriers, and implementing programs that encourage and promote walking and biking, it will be more convenient, comfortable, and safe to walk and bike citywide.

The City has already been recognized as a Bronze-level Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC) by the League of American Bicyclists. As the Plan is implemented, the City will have a strong case for more advanced recognition.
